Leading By Example

As one who’s considered over population to be the greatest risk to quality of life, this quote from

BBC News

 got my attention.

Researchers say if increasing levels of fatness are replicated globally it could mean the equivalent of an extra billion people on the planet.

The team estimated the total weight of people on the planet and found that North America had the highest average.

Although only 6% of the global population live there, it is responsible for more than a third of the obesity.

What does it say about our nation that we dominate the world with so many who are unable or unwilling to make better choices for themselves?

Shouldn’t this national crisis be getting more attention by our leaders? I’m one who typically believes that people should be able to live as they choose as long as it doesn’t harm others, but continuing this way will surely lead to disaster.

I don’t have the answers, but it’s obvious that something is seriously wrong and the implications are scary.

If you’re reading this it’s unlikely that you’re obese or even overweight, but it seems that we - the people who care most about this topic - are the ones who will need to develop a solution.
