Dark Chocolate and Espresso - the Perfect Combination

A study published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition found that dark chocolate may have a positive effect on athletic performance. Dark chocolate’s exercise benefits are likely the result of a substance called epicatechin – a type of flavonol found in the cacao bean that also increases nitric oxide production in the body.

Managing intensity and volume is key to having your best season ever and preventing burnout. There’s a New Bean in Town

Like many of you, I awake daily looking forward to a great cup of coffee. It’s no overstatement to call me a coffee snob, although my status as one is interesting since I didn’t start drinking coffee until after 40 and I’m pretty sensitive to caffeine. I'm so sensitive to it that I need to abstain before high-intensity workouts as it sends my heart and respiration rates so high that they limit my efforts. Thus, quality over quantity is my coffee game. Since I don’t drink more than a cup per day, and I’m picky in general when it comes to food and beverages, I allow myself to indulge on beans from boutique, third-wave coffee roasters which tend to be pricey.
